Eligibility Requirements

- Citizenship
- To adopt from the Kyrgyz Republic, at least one parent must be a U.S. citizen.
- Age
- Parents must be at least 25 years old and no more than 60 years old.
- Marriage Status
- Married couples and single applicants may adopt from Kyrgyz Republic. Kyrgyz Republic does not permit adoption by same-sex couples.
- Criminal History
- Applicants with documented history involving child abuse, violent offenses, domestic violence, or termination of parental rights are ineligible to adopt.
- Health Conditions
- Applicants must be in good health and free from serious, chronic transmissible diseases such as HIV, venereal disease, or tuberculosis, as well as other life-threatening conditions.
- Income
- Families must have an annual income of at least $30,000 and meet all financial requirements set by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the child to immigrate.
- Children at Home
- There are no requirements or limitations regarding the number of children in the household.
